Metabolism Jump Start
One of the keys to losing weight and keeping weight off is a fast calorie burning metabolism. There are a few different ways for you to jump start your metabolism and keep you healthy and at your ideal weight.
One thing I won’t mention is supplements. Supplements are largely a waste of money and the entire industry preys on the lack of knowledge and the need for immediate results the general population has when it comes to weight loss/muscle gain.

Anyway, the first thing you need to do if you are not doing it already is very simple. Eat breakfast! We’ve all heard how breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but probably have never been clued in as to why that is.
Let’s start by taking a look at the end of any given day. You have dinner for your last meal of the day (unless you sneak in some post dinner goodies) and we’ll say you ate dinner at 8pm. After dinner you sit down to watch tv and soon after you go to bed.
You wake up the next morning, skip breakfast and go about your day. Noon arrives and lunchtime is finally here. Now you give your body some fuel (food) to work with. It has now been 16 hours since your body last had any food to operate with.
Food is what keeps your body running. The food you eat is the fuel your body uses to keep all of your systems running and give you the energy to do whatever tasks you need to get done each day. When your body does not have fuel to work with it tries to conserve what it does have and the result is your metabolism slowing down to make proper use of the little or greatly spread out source of fuel.
Unfortunately, a morning cup of coffee does not constitute eating breakfast. You need a well balanced meal for breakfast and preferably make it one of your biggest meals of the day. Providing your body with the nutrients it needs at the start of the day gets your metabolism off and running breaking those nutrients down and providing you with the energy you need to run around town or pump out those reports your boss needs at the office.
The next thing you can do to jump start your metabolism is reduce the size of your meals and have several smaller meals throughout the day. You have probably heard this one too, and again have not been informed why it works. When you eat, your body goes to work breaking the food down and converting it into energy for you to use.
Just think of your metabolism as a bunch of warehouse workers putting away some inventory. If a delivery truck arrives with a huge load of inventory (this being you downing a huge meal), it is going to take your workers a long time to put all of it away properly for the rest of the factory (your body) to utilize. On the other hand, if that same truck arrives with a smaller, more manageable load, your workers can quickly and easily put that load away for the factory to use.
To keep this analogy going there is another part supporting the smaller meals to jump start your metabolism. If you have a large load delivered and only have one or two large loads delivered per day (this being you eating just 2 large meals), then your warehouse workers can essentially take their time putting things where they belong. This is your metabolism moving slowly because it knows based on your habits that it won’t have any more work to do for a long time. In contrast, if your delivery truck is scheduled to arrive every 2 or 3 hours (this being you spacing out your meals and the meal sizes being smaller), your workers know they have to hustle to get this load put away because another load will be arriving before long. The more often they work, the more efficient they become at doing the work.
When it’s all said and done the best thing for you to do is to make sure you eat breakfast, reduce your meal sizes, and eat several smaller meals per day to get your metabolism jump started and your fat burning machine running.
